In his high school years, Medvetz played on the position of "tight end" in Colonia Football. He worked as a doorman in New York City for eight years. He lived in Brazil for two years, where he learned mixed martial arts .

In 1998 he founded his company in Los Angeles , where he develops and sells motorcycles. There he also became a member of the Hells Angels. On September 10, 2001, he suffered a serious accident when he was hit by a truck with his motorcycle in the San Fernando Valley. Contrary to the doctors' initial assumption that they would have to amputate Medvetz's legs, they were able to obtain them in several operations. However, he was diagnosed with the fact that he would never be able to walk properly again. A year after his accident, Medvetz decided to radically change his life. He swore by crime and his ties to the Hells Angels and set himself the goal of climbing Mount Everest . He sold all of his property and traveled to Nepal and Thailand , where he spent four years preparing to climb. On the second attempt in 2007, he succeeded. On his return to the United States, he founded the "Heroes Project", with which he helped war veterans who have lost their legs to find their way back to their old life.

Medvetz's spine had to be supported with a metal cage for a long time because of the accident, there are metal plates in his head and his left leg is held together with nine nails. After climbing Everest, Tim Medvetz stopped taking the prescribed painkillers and has never touched them again since then. The first ascent in 2006 failed shortly before the summit, Medvetz suffered from a lack of oxygen. The 1.96 m tall man lost 10 kg by the second and successful attempt and then managed the ascent. The ascent was filmed by the Discovery Channel in "Everest - Playing with Death". In 2007 the documentary "After the Climb" followed and in 2014 the series "Wild Life - Back to Life", also with Medvetz in the leading role. In this series he helps people with problems to get back on their feet and make something of their lives. To do this, he takes her, accompanied by a camera team, into the Utah wilderness .

Medvetz was in a relationship with Cher from 2008 to 2013 , the couple even wanted to get married in 2012, but separated for good the following year.
