Timea or (Hungarian) Tímea is a female given name that is particularly popular in Hungary and in the Hungarian-speaking area ( Transylvania , southern Slovakia , Vojvodina , Slavonia , Murinsel , Burgenland ) .
Contrary to today's Hungarian spelling, the original pronunciation is Timéa .
The name goes back to a character in the novel A Gold Man ( Az arany ember ) by Mór Jókai from 1872.
