PT Timor Putra Nasional was an Indonesian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Tommy Suharto, son of Suharto , founded the company in Jakarta . In 1996 the production of automobiles began in cooperation with Kia Motors . The brand name was Timor , short for Teknologi Industri Mobil Rakyat . The Asian crisis from 1997 to 1998 and the bankruptcy of Kia caused problems. Production ended in 1998. Another source gives the production period from 1995 to 2005.

The Timor S-515 was based on the Kia Sephia . This was a limousine . The four-cylinder engines had a displacement of 1500 cm³ and depending on the version, 82 hp or 105 hp. For another variant, 120 hp have been delivered. In the first year, 6,042 vehicles were sold. By the end of 1997 almost 19,000 vehicles had been registered. At the end of 1998, 14,000 vehicles were still unsold.

The S 2 by Zagato was designed by Zagato , but remained a prototype .
