Timothy Francis Nardiello (born October 5, 1960 in Lake Placid , New York ) is a former American luge athlete .
Nardiello attended Lake Placid High School , where he was on the hockey team and won the New York State Championships. He worked as a carpenter and fisherman . In tobogganing, he was active in both single and double seats. In 1984 he qualified for the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . There he finished 21st. With his partner Miro Zajonc , he became the first American two-seater to take second place in a World Cup race in December 1986. In 1988 the doubles Nardiello / Zajonc took part in the Winter Olympics in Calgary . There they reached rank 11.
After his active career, Nardiello worked as a coach for the US skeleton team . In 2006, he was short of the Winter Olympics in Turin because of allegations of sexual harassment suspended by team members. With no evidence found to support these allegations, Nardiello was reinstated as a coach. When the US National Olympic Committee found that Nardiello had continued to coach despite his suspension, he was fired.
