The Tingi Hills Wad Reserve ( English Tingi Hills Non-Hunting Forest Reserve ) is a forest reserve without hunting in the West African Sierra Leone . It is a national park according to the IUCN .
The reserve lies in the border area of the Eastern and Northern provinces and has an area of 118.85 square kilometers . It is located in the Tingi Hills mountain range of the same name .
Vegetation, flora and fauna
In addition to the two dominating peaks with 1,800 m and 1,853 m ( Sankan Biriwa ), the Sewa and Mano rivers run through. At heights between 305 and 915 meters, there is mainly forest savannah , overlying shrub savannah up to about 1650 meters and a grass savannah on the peaks. There are gallery forests along the rivers .
More than 200 bird species have so far been identified in Tingi Hills, including at least six rare species such as Prinia leontica . The chimpanzee , elephant and pygmy hippopotamus are found in large mammals . The chimpanzee population is given as 70 (as of 2010).
