Titular diocese of Libertina
The Diocese of Libertina ( Italian diocesi di Libertina , Latin Dioecesis Libertinensis ) is a titular diocese of the Roman Catholic Church .
It goes back to a submerged bishopric in the ancient city of the same name, which was in the Roman province of Africa proconsularis (today northern Tunisia ). The city is possibly identifiable with the ruins at Souc-El-Arba. The submerged bishopric belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Carthage , only three bishops of Libertina are known by name: Victor, Januarius (both mentioned in 411 , the latter a Donatist ) and Januarius (mentioned in 646 AD) The diocese finally passed as a result of the Arab conquest of North Africa under.
