Amando Samo

Amando Samo (born August 16, 1948 in Moch Island ) is a Micronesian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of the Caroline Islands .

Life

The Vicar Apostolic of the Carolines and Marshall Islands , Martin Joseph Neylon SJ , ordained him on December 10, 1977 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on May 10, 1987, auxiliary bishop on the Caroline-Marshall Islands and titular bishop of Libertina . The Bishop of the Caroline Marshall Islands, Martin Joseph Neylon SJ, donated him episcopal ordination on August 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Petero Mataca , Archbishop of Suva , and Anthony Sablan Apuron OFMCap , Archbishop of Agaña .

On February 3, 1994, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of the Caroline Islands. With the retirement of Martin Joseph Neylons SJ, he succeeded him on March 25, 1995 as Bishop of the Carolines and he was introduced to the office on June 6 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on February 2, 2020.
