Herbert Armstrong Bevard (born February 24, 1946 in Baltimore ) is Bishop of Saint Thomas .

Life

He converted from Presbyterianism to the Roman Catholic Church in June 1964 . The Archbishop of Philadelphia , Cardinal John Joseph Krol , ordained him a priest on May 20, 1972 . In 2003 he was appointed monsignor .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Saint Thomas on July 7, 2008 . The Archbishop of Washington , Donald William Wuerl , donated him episcopal ordination on September 3 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Joseph Edward Kurtz , Archbishop of Louisville , and Daniel Edward Thomas , Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia.
