The Tjaldanesfell (719 m) is a mountain in the northwest of Iceland . It is located roughly in the middle of the Vestfirðir (Westfjords) region on Arnarfjörður across from the hamlet of Hrafnseyri on the north side of the fjord.

The mountain stands out clearly from the surrounding mountains because it contains rhyolite and gabbro , and is therefore much lighter in the rock than the basalt mountains in the area. This can be explained by the fact that these are the remains of the old central volcano, the Tjaldanes volcano , which was active about twelve million years ago. The mountain also has erosion slopes, which is unusual to this extent for the Westfjords.

The mountain massif behind it with the highest mountain in the Westfjords, the Kaldbakur , also belongs to the same volcano .

Below the mountain is the abandoned Tjaldanes farm .
