Tjanuni (or Tjanuny , read as "Silni" after Schneider ) was an ancient Egyptian warrior of the 18th dynasty . He officiated under Thutmose III. as head of the military scribe and was responsible for all marching reports and official war diaries. Below . Amenhetep II and . Thutmes IV was promoted to recruit recorder ( "Sesch-neferu"; SS nfrw ). The new office of the recruiter was responsible for recruiting new recruits and was not until the time of Thutmose III. introduced. It was only one step below that of the general. The Egyptian expansion policy of the 18th dynasty ensured an ever increasing administrative burden within the Egyptian army, which made this office necessary.

His grave TT74 is in Sheikh Abd el-Qurna and contains a biographical inscription.
