The Tjobsa ( Russian Тёбза ) is a left tributary of the Kostroma in the Kostroma Oblast .

The Tjobsa forms the outflow of the small Skomorochowskoje lake located on the Galitscher Heights . It initially flows in an arc around the lake to the south. Later it meanders through the swampy forest landscape in a predominantly west-northwest direction. Finally, it reaches the left bank of the Kostroma about 13 km southwest of the town of Bui .

The Tjobsa has a length of 140 km. It drains an area of ​​1160 km². The river is mainly fed by the snowmelt . 34 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 8.54 m³ / s. The river is ice-covered between November / first half of December and April.
