To-Mera is a British progressive metal band that was formed in 2005.
history
After Julie Kiss left the Hungarian band Without Face , she founded the band To-Mera together with Lee Barrett with the intention of creating dark and atmospheric metal music with influences from classical and jazz .
When the group was complete, a first demo was released in June 2005 , which received consistently positive reviews and aroused the interest of the music labels . The resulting debut album Transcendental was released in September 2006 by Candlelight Records and was praised for its ingenuity and high playing skills.
After a few line-up changes , the album Delusions was released in February 2008 , which is stylistically very similar to the debut album and also received positive feedback from the press.
style
To-Mera's music is shaped by Julie Kiss' haunting voice, heavy guitar riffs and emotional lyrics. In addition, most of the songs are excessively long and have a complex structure with multiple style changes. As influences the band leads u. a. Symphony X , Opeth , Pain of Salvation and Dream Theater .
