To Beast or Not to Beast is the sixth studio album by the Finnish hard rock band Lordi . It was released by AFM Records on March 1, 2013 in Europe and on March 19 of the same year in the USA. The first single "The Riff" was released on February 8, 2013. The album was recorded in 2012 at WireWorld Studio in Nashville , Tennessee.
The album was produced from September 1st, 2012 and was the second album after its predecessor " Babez for Breakfast " that Lordi worked with Michael Wagener as a producer. It was also the first album with the new band members Mana and Hella and the first album after the death of the band's former drummer, Otus. The last track "SCG6: Otus' Butcher Clinic" is dedicated to him and contains a drum solo played by him.
The album was previously described by the band as the hardest Lordi album to date.

Reviews
In her review, Katrin Riedl from Metal-Hammer magazine mentioned "the rough, immediately recognizable voice of Mr. Lordi as well as the horror atmosphere and curious song titles", which are the hallmarks of the band. In terms of sound, "the Grand Prix monsters didn't dare to venture out of their hard rock corner, but at least experiment here and there with a pinch of electro or industrial."
Jens Peters from Rock Hard said that Lordi "will be serving a catchy mix of classic heavy metal à la Accept and hard rock in the style of Alice Cooper in 2013 too."
