Tobias Grau (born March 2, 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German designer .

Education and professional career

After studying business administration in Munich, Tobias Grau went to New York in 1983 to the Parson School of Design, followed by an internship in the development department of Knoll International in Pennsylvania .

In 1984 Tobias Grau started as a freelance designer in Hamburg with interior design work for offices of agencies as well as smaller companies and fashion stores. For these facilities, designs for lights and furniture were created , which were realized with special craft businesses for these facilities. From this work, Tobias Grau developed the first lighting collection, which was presented under his own name at the imm cologne in 1987 . The most famous lights in the Tobias Grau collection include Tai, Bill, George, Soon, Oh China.
