Togrul Shakhtinsky

Togrul Schachtinski , Azerb. Toğrul Ne'mət oğlu Şahtaxtinski, Russian Тогрул Неймат оглы Шахтахтинский (born October 22, 1925 in Baku ; † October 8, 2010 ibid) was an Azerbaijani chemist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1943, he studied at the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology of the Azerbaijani Institute of Industry . After graduating in 1949, he worked as a university and specialty chemical engineer. He also attended the Graduate School of the Petroleum Institute of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.

As a research assistant at the Institute of Petroleum and the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, he was appointed its scientific secretary in 1954. In 1959 he received his doctorate in chemistry. From 1962 to 1974 he was head of the laboratory at the Institute for Petrochemical Processes . In 1968 he completed his habilitation and was appointed professor. In 1972 he was a co-founder of the Nakhichevan Research Center. In 1972 he was appointed a corresponding member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences . From 1973 to 1981 he was academic secretary of the Department of Chemical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, since 1975 director and head of the Laboratory for Oxidation Processes of the Institute for Theoretical Problems of Chemistry and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In 1976 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences and since 1990 has been head of the Academy's Department of Chemical Sciences.

From 1997 to 2007 he was Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences. Since 2002 he has been the director of the Institute for Chemical Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan .

Schachtinski has published over 600 scientific papers and has been honored with the highest awards in the country.
