Tomáš Kříž ([ ˈtɔmaːʃ kr̝iːʃ ], born March 17, 1959 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player .

Club career

Kříž started playing football at the age of seven at Dukla Prague . At the age of 18 he was included in the A-team. The striker , who was more of a preparer than a goalscorer, quickly gained a regular place. Kříž remained loyal to the army club until 1989 and won the Czechoslovak championship with the red-yellow in 1977, 1979 and 1982. He was also able to celebrate victory in the national cup competition three times, namely in 1981, 1983 and 1985.

After a total of 13 seasons with Dukla, Kříž moved to SV Darmstadt 98 in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1989 . In the 1989/90 season he came on 13 missions in which he scored a goal, in the 1990/91 season he ran only twice for Hessen. He returned to Czechoslovakia and joined Chmel Blšany , but only for half a year.

The offensive player spent the next four years in Austrian amateur football, from 1995 to 1999 he played in Louňovice pod Blaníkem , from 1999 to 2003 in Kožlany .

National team

In the Czechoslovak national team Kříž made his debut on October 28, 1981. The Czechoslovakia lost to the USSR in Tbilisi with 0: 3. He took part in the 1982 World Cup, which was disappointing for Czechoslovakia , in which he played two group games, but none of them over the full distance. After the World Cup, he did not play again until October 1983 in a friendly against Bulgaria .

Kříž was disregarded for almost three years before playing two games against Australia in August 1986 . The 3-0 win in Sydney on August 10, 1983 was Kříž 'last game for the national team.

After the active career

Tomáš Kříž has been working as a trainer in the junior department of Dukla Prague since 2003.
