Thomas Joseph Beutler (* 29. September 1946 in Bluffton , Ohio ) is a former American American football poker players. He played two seasons as linebacker in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

From 1965 to 1967 Beutler played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). His best season came in 1967 when he was named the Rockets MVP, MAC Lineman of the Year, and First-team All-American . He was the first All-American in school history. He then received an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game , which he also started. For the 100th anniversary of the Rockets in 2017, Beutler was voted 13th in the All-Century Team. He is also a member of the MAC Hall of Fame .

In the 1968 NFL Draft , Beutler was selected in the twelfth round by the Cleveland Browns . He spent most of his first three seasons on the Browns Taxi Squad . In March 1971 he was traded for a draft pick to the Baltimore Colts . He later played for the Memphis Southmen from the World Football League (WFL).

Personal

Beutler's nephew Jeremy Beutler also played football professionally, including in the Arena Football League and NFL Europe .
