Tom Cochrane
Tom Cochrane (born May 14, 1953 in Lynn Lake , Manitoba , Canada ) is a Canadian singer and composer . After a less than successful solo album, which Cochrane had released in 1974, he became lead singer of the group Red Rider in 1978 . The group had several hits on the Billboard mainstream rock chart .
Career
After the breakup of Red Rider in 1990, Cochrane released the solo album Mad Mad World in 1991 . The album sold over 2 million copies and had a top 10 hit on the Billboard Singles Chart with Life Is A Highway . The album Ragged Ass Road followed in 1995 . In 1997, Cochrane released Songs Of A Circling Spirit , an album of acoustic versions of his songs. After his father developed Parkinson's disease , Tom Cochrane released Just Like Ali , a benefit single for the Parkinson Society Canada in 2002 . In 2005, Cochrane performed on Live 8 in Canada. On October 31, 2006, the first new album No Stranger was released .
Tom Cochrane has won multiple Juno Awards as a member of Red Rider and as a solo artist . In 2003 he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame . In 2006, Life Is A Highway was back in the US Top 10, in the version of the country band Rascal Flatts .
