Tom Joseph Fergus (* 16th June 1962 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a retired American ice hockey player , who in his active between 1979 and 1995, including for the Boston Bruins , Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League played Has.

Career

Tom Fergus began his career as a hockey player with the Peterborough Petes , for which he was active from 1979 to 1981 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey Association and its successor Ontario Hockey League . With Peterborough he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup in the 1979/80 season . Then the center was selected by the Boston Bruins in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 60th player. For the team from Massachusetts he ran from 1981 to 1985 in the National Hockey League . Then he was given in exchange for Bill Derlago to the Toronto Maple Leafs . With the Canadians he quickly fought for a regular place, but missed much of the 1990/91 season due to a muscle injury that he had sustained in a game against the St. Louis Blues .

In December 1991 Fergus was sold by the Maple Leafs to their league rivals Vancouver Canucks . After another two years in the NHL, the left-handed player moved to EV Zug from the Swiss National League A , where he ended his career at the age of 33 following the 1994/95 season.

International

For the United States , Fergus took part in the 1985 Ice Hockey World Championship , where he finished fourth with his team.
