Tom Hurwitz

Tom Hurwitz (* 1947 ) is an American documentary filmmaker and cameraman .

biography

Hurwitz is the son of Leo Hurwitz (1909–1991), film director, film producer, screenwriter, film editor and cameraman. Hurwitz grew up in New York City , attended private schools and received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in New York. He lived largely in New York and in California for five years in the 1970s.

He received two Daytime Emmy Awards (1982 and 1988) for his documentaries . In 1998 he received an award at the Sundance Film Festival , in 2004 at the Jerusalem Film Festival and in 2013 at the Garden State Film Festival . As a cameraman he has been involved in more than 130 productions since 1977.

Hurwitz is married to the psychoanalyst Margaret Klenck. they have one son. He also has two daughters from a previous marriage. Privately, he gives seminar for liturgy at the New York Episcopal Church, Cathedral of Saint John the Divine .
