(Dis) Honesty: The Truth About Lies (English for: (dis) honesty: The Truth About Lies ) is an American documentary film of director Yael Melamede over the US-American- Israeli psychologist and university professor Dan Ariely . The film premiered on April 6, 2015 at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham (North Carolina) , USA.

As part of a study with 40,000 participants, Professor Ariely and his team examined the motivations of people who lie and the resulting consequences for the individual and society . The basis for the film is Dan Ariely's 2012 book Half the Truth is the Best Lie: How we deceive others - and ourselves most of all .

Above all, Ariely's aim is to reveal the psychological behaviors and patterns that enable people to lie while still believing themselves to be sincere and truthful. He illustrates his claims through experiments and encourages greater honesty with oneself and society.

In interviews , people also have their say, who tell of the consequences of revealing their sometimes criminal lies. Among others, the Joseph M.
