Tom Olin

Tom Olin (* around 1950) is an American jazz musician ( woodwind instruments ).

Live and act

Olin graduated from the New England Conservatory in 1972 , where he taught with Jaki Byard and Jo Allard ; later mentors were Bill Blount , Lisa Arkis and Frank Foster . He belonged for 16 years of big band from Illinois Jacquet and played in New York City in various Broadway -Orchestern. The first recordings were made in 1984 when he played in the sextet of pianist Andy Jaffe ( Manhattan Projections , Stash), who u. a. and Wallace Roney , Branford Marsalis and Marvin Smith belonged. In the field of jazz he was involved in 19 recording sessions in the following years, mostly big band productions by Bill Warfield , Lew Anderson , The Four Freshmen , Sam Ulano and most recently in 2010 with the Brooklyn Repertory Ensemble ( Pragmatic Optimism , including James Zollar and Vincent Chancey ).
