Coaching career

After his playing career, he was coached by Norwich City in 1933 . With the Canaries he rose from the third English division in 1934 to the second English division. In 1937 he returned to his old club Southampton FC, which he had to leave in 1943 due to the Second World War because regular gaming operations were no longer possible. He worked after his second time with the Saints as an expert with the specialty ship in the port of Southampton. From 1955 to 1957 he returned once more as a coach and was again coach of Norwich City for these two years. After his coaching career, he became an expert again and retired in 1962.
