Tom Poster (* 1981 ) is a British pianist and composer .

Life

Tom Poster studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Joan Havill and at Kings College , Cambridge .

Appearances

Tom Poster is internationally recognized as an outstanding and versatile pianist both as a soloist and as a chamber music partner. Since making his concert debut in London at the age of 13, he has worked with many orchestras and conductors, including the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra under Yan Pascal Tortelier , the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under James Loughran , the European Union Chamber Orchestra and the China National Symphony Orchestra under En Shao .

Poster appears regularly on BBC Radio 3 as a soloist and chamber musician. He was also heard at the BBC Proms in 2008, 2009 and 2011. He regularly gives recitals on BBC Radio Scotland, introducing famous composers. He gave international concerts a. a. already in Great Britain, in Germany. in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Canada.

As a pianist, he is a member of the Aronowitz Ensemble (BBC New Generation Artists from 2006 to 2008). This ensemble can also look back on performances in internationally renowned concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London , the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg .

Tom Poster was artist-in-residence at the Aberystwyth Music Festival and is the former director of the Chacombe Music Festival.

Compositions

He also composes himself, including two chamber operas when he was only twelve years old and musicals.

Awards

Tom Poster won u. a. in 2000 the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, in 2007 first prize in the Scottish International Piano competition and in 2009 the ensemble award in the Honens International Piano competition.

Discography

Ensemble Aronowitz's debut CD, Climbing the Skies , was released with great success in 2010.
