Tom Sachs (born July 26, 1966 in New York City , USA ) is an American modern artist.

Life

Sachs grew up in Westport, Connecticut , northeast of New York City, and attended high school there . He graduated from Bennington College in Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts before going to London to study architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture . He returned to the United States and worked for two years in Frank Gehry's furniture workshop in Los Angeles .

In 1990 he moved to his hometown and set up his studio in a former machine factory called Allied Cultural Prosthetics (loosely translated as united cultural prostheses ). In this studio a variety of work, so its installation in 1994 at Christmas 1994, the New Yorker for department store arose Barney's .1995 he had his first solo exhibition at the New York gallery Morris Hely Gallery entitled Cultural Prosthetics . His next exhibition Creativity Is the Enemy was shown in the same gallery in 1998 and then went to the Thaddaeus Ropac gallery in the Marais in Paris . The artist had seven exhibitions in the Paris gallery until 2014.
