Tommy Sears

Tommy Sears (born 1911 in Dublin , † December 6, 1975 in Swindon ) was an English table tennis player who took part in seven world championships in the 1930s and 1940s.

Career

Tommy Sears won the open English championship in doubles with Victor Barna in 1934 and 1935 . From 1930 to 1949 he took part in seven world championships . He reached the final with the English team in 1931 . At subsequent World Cups, he looked after the English players, especially the women, as a non-playing captain.

Tommy Sears earned his living as a manager of a company. He was married and had two children. After a long illness, he died on December 6, 1975.
