Tommy Suoraniemi

Tommy Roger Suoraniemi (born February 28, 1969 in Spånga-Tensta , Stockholm County ) is a Swedish handball coach and former handball player .

With a height of 1.64 m and 65 kg body weight, Suoraniemi is one of the smallest handball players of all time. The outside player initially ran for Tyresö IF and from 1990 for HK Drott Halmstad , with whom he became Swedish champions in 1991 and 1994.

In the Swedish national team Suoraniemi made his debut in 1988. At the 1992 Olympic Games, he was defeated by the CIS in the final and won the silver medal. At the European Championships in 1994 he won the final against Russia and was European champion. By 1995 he played 60 international matches in which he scored 87 goals.

Tommy Suoraniemi has been an assistant coach at HK Drott since 2011 and has been responsible for the second team from 2013. From March 2014 to November 2015 he trained the first team at HK Drott together with Lars-Magnus Jönsson . In September 2016 he took over the coaching position of the Finnish women's national team.
