Toni Geiling

Toni Geiling (* 1975 in Hildburghausen ) is a German composer , songwriter and violinist .

He grew up in Köthen , where he began to learn the violin at the age of nine . He spent his youth in Halle (Saale) . After graduating from high school in 1994, he first played alongside the Irish songwriter Tony Small as a violinist in Ireland . In 1997 he founded the “New Acoustic Collective” in Australia together with musicians there. In 2001 Toni Geiling was honored with the German Folk Prize at the Tanz & FolkFest in Rudolstadt . In the same year he founded the label New Acoustic Collective. In 2004 he produced the project “Voyage - a musical journey around the world”, which, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, carried out concerts at elementary and special schools with international casts.

Toni Geiling writes songs in German or English, folkloric fiddle tunes but also classical works, e.g. B. String Quartets . Toni Geiling is also a children's songwriter and is one of the winners of the German children's song award of the Nürnberger Nachrichten 2006 and the culture prize winners of the city of Feldkirch / Austria in 2007. His song "Windgeister" won the children's song competition of the WDR KinderLiederWelt that same year. The CD "Thoughts want to fly" was awarded the LEOPOLD 2007/2008 media prize "Good Music for Children" from the Association of German Music Schools in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs and the WDR .
