Toni Reis (2016)

Toni Reis (* 1964 ) is a Brazilian human rights activist. He is president of the homosexual organization Grupo Dignidade, general secretary of the national association of gays , lesbians and transsexuals in Brazil ABGLT and a member of the international advisory board of the Hirschfeld-Eddy-Foundation .

He is a teacher and specialist in human sexuality and group dynamics. He holds a master's degree in philosophy in the fields of ethics and sexuality . He was the founding president of the ABGLT in 1995.

Toni Reis is also Latin America's coordinator for ASICAL (Association for Integral Health and Citizenship in Latin America and the Caribbean).

Act

1,600 homosexuals have been murdered in the past ten years, including 350 transvestites and 61 lesbians , Toni Reis described the situation in his country in 1998.

He addressed the Brazilian parliament in 2006. He explained that 250 homosexuals are now murdered in Brazil every year.

In 2007 he also spoke before bodies of the United Nations in order to give his organization advisory status.

In a test case, he obtained a permanent residence permit for Brazil for his partner from Great Britain .
