Tony Campise

Anthony S. "Tony" Campise (* 22. January 1943 in Houston , Texas ; † 7. March 2010 ) was an American jazz - saxophonist and flutist .

Tony Campise became known for his membership in the big band of Stan Kenton , of which he was a member in the 1970s and performed on Kenton albums such as Fire, Fury & Run and Kenton in Chicago . In 1984 he moved to Austin, Texas , where he performed in the jazz clubs on Sixth Street and accompanied stars like Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan . In the 1990s he presented a few albums under his own name; the 1991 album Once In a Blue Moon was nominated for a 1992 Grammy . Campise died of an intercerebral hemorrhage as a long-term consequence of a fall in October 2009.
