Anthony Albert "Tony" Daykin (born May 13, 1955 in Taipei ) is a former Taiwanese American football player. He was the first Taiwanese player in the National Football League (NFL), where he played in the position of linebacker between 1977 and 1981 .

Career

Daykin played college football at Georgia Tech for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1974 to 1976 . In his first season he was a starter in the position of defensive lineman . In 1975 he lost this role, but was able to start again in his last season, this time as a defensive back . He was also team captain.

In the 1977 NFL Draft , he was selected as the 293rd player in the eleventh round by the Detroit Lions . The number 58 was able to play in every game in its first season, mostly in the special teams . In 1979 he moved to the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent , where he wore the number 55. In September 1982 he was placed on the Injured Reserve List by the Falcons and did not play a game thereafter.

Since 2010 he has been a math teacher at Kell High School in Marietta , Georgia . He is also the trainer of the safety equipment for the school football team.
