Tore Viken Holvik (born October 21, 1988 in Førde ) is a Norwegian snowboarder whose strengths lie in the halfpipe .

In contrast to most snowboarders, who initially start in low-class races and only play a few competitions in the higher-class series at the beginning of their career, Holvik made his international debut at the age of 16 at the World Championships in January 2005. There he placed in the big air -Competition as 27th in the back midfield. A week later he won the bronze medal in the halfpipe at the European Youth Olympic Festival ; In February of that year he took part in a World Cup for the first time , before missing just under two top ten results at the Junior World Championships in Zermatt in April 2005 . The following winter, Holvik only competed in one World Cup, but was the seventh best athlete in his country in the halfpipe at the Junior World Championships.

The Norwegian returned to the World Cup in the winter of 2006/07 and achieved three results in the top ten. The 2007/08 season was even better , with Holvik making the podium for the first time in February 2008 as third in Calgary . This result remained his best in the World Cup for a long time; only in January 2010 could he repeat it in Kreischberg . Third place in this competition was also particularly important for Holvik, as it qualified him for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver a month later . For a short time, participation in the Olympics was endangered by a training fall in which Holvik broke his wrist. The Norwegian was still able to start in Vancouver, where he missed a top position as 28th in the halfpipe, but did better than his three teammates.

At the beginning of the 2010/11 season , Holvik won a World Cup for the first time. In Saas-Fee he decided the final with a clear margin on the Japanese Ryō Aono for himself. Previously, he had already finished fifth at the Burton New Zealand Open , which is part of the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour (TTR), which competes with the World Cup .
