Gate Entrance (Dalmoak House)

The gateway to Dalmoak House marks the north entrance to the grounds of the Scottish villa Dalmoak House . James Aitken , owner of the Rosebank whiskey distillery in Camelon , had Dalmoak House built as a country estate between 1866 and 1869. In the course of this, access roads were also created. The north approach branches off the A812 south of the town of Renton in the Council Area of West Dunbartonshire . Directly north, the four-lane A82 crosses the smaller A812. The entrance gate was designed as part of the construction work on Dalmoak House. Unlike the driveway further south (see Mains Lodge ), it was not equipped with a lodge. In 1996 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

description

Two massive sandstone gate pillars flank the entrance to the Kutschweg. They have a round floor plan and close with crown-like, encircling battlements that rest on small corbels . A band runs around halfway up. The Kutschweg is flanked on both sides by pedestrian paths, each delimiting another pillar of the same design. The quarry stone enclosure wall of the property ends on both sides a piece in front of the gate and is continued as a gradually growing sandstone wall up to the outer pillars.
