The Union Station is the main train station and also the main hub of public transport of Toronto . The station was opened on August 6, 1927 by Prince Edward of Wales , later King Edward VIII of England, and renovated in the 1970s. The current station building replaces a building from 1858. The client was the Canadian National Railway . A neoclassical colonnade forms the main entrance .

location

Union Station is connected to the city's underground pedestrian system by PATH . A skywalk connects the station building with the CN Tower , the Rogers Center and the Metro Toronto Convention Center . An extensive renovation of today's main station is planned for the years 2009 to 2014. [outdated]

The station is located south of the city on Front Street , between Bay Street and York Street in the Financial District .
