Torsten Bugiel (born December 9, 1975 in Cologne ) is a German drummer.

Life

Torsten Bugiel started playing the drums at the age of nine. From 1986 to 1991 he took drum lessons with Thomas Arens (textbook author and drum teacher), from 1997 he was taught in the drum workshop in Cologne. In 1998 he studied at the Drummers Institute in Düsseldorf , which he successfully completed with a diploma. This was followed by various master classes and workshops, among other things.

Influences

Torsten Bugiel is primarily a rock / pop drummer . The influences that have shaped his work are diverse. In addition to rock / pop sounds and elements of progressive art rock, you can also find drum and bass , elements of world music / Afro-Cuban styles and dark-wave / gothic compositions in his musical activities. He was also the drummer in the performances of the musical Saturday Night Fever in the Musical Dome in Cologne.

Thomas Godoj

Torsten Bugiel is an integral part of the band around which Germany is looking for the superstar winner 2008 Thomas Godoj . For his albums Plan A! (Platinum Edition) and direction G he was involved in the studio recordings. In addition to various television appearances, an extensive tour through Germany and Switzerland followed in 2008/2009 . With the second album, Torsten Bugiel again went on tour in Germany with Thomas Godoj & Band in December 2009, which was continued in spring 2010 with further concerts, then also in Switzerland and Austria . After the release of the third long player So wollt in October 2011 began on 3/4. December 2011 the first part of the joint tour. The second part of the tour of the same name took them in April and May 2012 through largely sold-out concerts across Germany. Torsten Bugiel and Thomas Godoj have played together in the band WiNK in the past.

Highersense

In 2010 Torsten Bugiel founded the band Highersense together with singer and songwriter Daniel Schmidt , Sebastian Naas (bass), Thomas Spindeldreher (guitar) and Markus Schröder (keyboards) . The first CD of this formation was released in August 2010 and work is intensifying on a live concept. At the beginning of 2011 guitarist Thomas Spindeldreher will be replaced by Tobi Born . At the end of 2011 Torsten Bugiel and Tobi Born leave the band, which is currently the only project of front man Daniel Schmidt.

Darius Zander band

Band founded in January 2011 by the Cologne singer and songwriter Darius Zander and Torsten Bugiel, whose sponsors included the former MTV presenter Steve Blame . The musical genre of the Darius Zander Band can best be described with the term German soul. After several live performances in 2011 and 2012, the band surprisingly broke up in December 2012.

WIRTZ

Since autumn 2012 Torsten Bugiel has been working with Daniel Wirtz (artist name "WIRTZ") at regular intervals . Torsten already recorded a song from the Erdling album in 2009 . The musicians are currently in the studio again to record part of the singer and songwriter's next long player, which will be released in 2013.

Teacher / lecturer activity

In addition to his various studio and live activities, Torsten Bugiel works as a lecturer and drum teacher at the Open Jazzhaus School in Cologne. For the bass player Sebastian Naas Torsten recorded the drum recordings for the playback CD from his bass textbook "Basic Bass".
