Reviews

The album received mostly positive reviews. In particular, the development compared to the previous album is often praised.

Adrian Meyer from laut.de awards 5 out of 5 points and says: Foals deliver a disc with their second album that testifies to an enormous maturation process. They have not completely given up their rebelliousness that dominated "Antidotes" on "Total Life Forever". Rather, the concentrated pressure at the time has expanded to an elaborate breadth. "Total Life Forever" inspires with the first listening pass - and is a grower at the same time.

Björn Bauermeister rates the album on tonspion.de with 5 out of 6 stars and judges: The Foals act less theoretically today, care more about the expression and the moment, are less hectic than rather contemplative in their cosmos .

The trick here is to locate a beating heart, the missing Z to their rigorous X and Y axes, without losing sight of what made them so exciting in the first place , so Alex Denney for bbc.co.uk.

On3.de, Total Life Forever is album of the week, the review says: If the music industry doesn't go completely down the drain, then the Foals could really become a really big number.

In the criticism on intro.de, the author judges: The framework of the music [has] been loosened in many places, the complexities of the band's math-rock past are softened by elegiac textures, there is less hectic in the structures, less cryptic in the content .

The NME judges It is nervous, intense and quite brilliant. and awards 8 out of 10 possible points.
