history

The oldest archaeological finds in the community are stone tombs from the 7th to 10th centuries AD.

From 1514 to 1836, i.e. the administrative reforms under King D. Manuel I to the territorial reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , Touro was a municipality in the Vila Cova à Coelheira district . Since its dissolution in 1836, Touro has belonged to the Vila Nova de Paiva district.
