Vila Cova à Coelheira is a town and municipality in northern Portugal .
history
The current place was probably created with the resettlements during the Reconquista . In 1258 the community came to the Hospitaller Order .
King D. Manuel I gave the place city rights in 1514 and made it the seat of a separate district. In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , the independent district of Vila Cova à Coelheira was dissolved in 1836 and has been a municipality of the district of Vila Nova de Paiva ever since.
