Towser
Towser (born April 21, 1963 ; † March 20, 1987 ) was the house cat of the Scottish whiskey distillery Glenturret .
Towser is the "most productive" cat of all time according to the Guinness Book of Records . She is said to have caught an "estimated" 28,899 mice in her almost 24 years of life . She was long-haired and her fur had a tortoiseshell pattern .
On the grounds of the Glenturret distillery, which is considered to be the oldest still producing whiskey distillery in Scotland, a bronze monument has been erected at the visitor center . It bears the inscription: Towser / April 21, 1963-30 March 1987 / Towser, the famous cat who lived in the still house, / Glenturret Distillery, for almost 24 years. / She caught 28,899 mice in her lifetime. / World mousing champion, Guinness Book of Records.
