Toxin is a speed and thrash metal band from Kassel that was founded in 1986.

history

The band was founded in 1986 by guitarist Frank Ungewickel and drummer Michael Kramer. In the same year Andreas Wendel joined the band as a bassist. Together they recorded the first two demos with Intoxicated and Progress and Decay . After Jendrick Pieck joined the band as the second guitarist, she recorded the EP Aphorisms . Pieck left the band while the sound carrier was still being released and was replaced by Stephan Kaufmann. With this line-up, the debut album Misantrophy appeared on Black Fantasy Records in 1991, which was produced by Heinz Mikus ( Risk ). This was followed by the EP Cloned and the demo Disparity of Views . From 1996 to 2002, where the band held their last concert in April 2002, and from 2003 to 2010 the band was inactive. In 2012 the band performed at the second Power of Metal Festival in Kassel and at the Schwalm Metal Open Air. In 2014 Ungewickel founded the band Code Red Organization .

style

On Aphorisms , according to Götz Kühnemund from Metal Hammer , the band plays a varied mixture of speed and thrash metal that has an international format. The use of three singers is also characteristic. According to Kühnemund, the group is comparable to Vendetta . In his review of Misantrophy in the Metal Hammer, Uwe Schnädelbach agreed to a comparison with Vendetta and used Risk as a further example, which was also thanks to the production by Heinz Mikus. Robert Müller also wrote in Metal Hammer that Disparity of Views , like its predecessors, offers technically demanding Thrash Metal, which also has influences from Hardcore Punk . In addition, numerous breaks were used in the songs .
