Work and way of working

Rose's work addresses the dogmatic limitations as well as the weaknesses and deficiencies of the institutionalized cultural discourse. Throughout them, their emphasis on the confrontation with identity politics , especially with regard to the issues of race and gender , becomes clear.

According to Jan Avgikos, "the smooth reference to the performance art of the 1960s and 1970s is a big part of the fascination of Tracey Rose's work".

Sue Williamson on the artist: Tracey Rose is not someone who jumps for every opportunity to exhibit and has become known for having withdrawn from more than one exhibition project when the circumstances didn't seem right to her. "
