Trae Williams (born May 5, 1997 in Brisbane ) is an Australian athlete .

Athletic career

Williams gained his first international experience at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where he won the bronze medal in the 100-meter run in 10.60 seconds. At the IAAF World Relays 2015 in the Bahamas , he was eliminated in the first round with the 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2016 he took part in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , where he was eliminated over 100 meters in the first round and over 200 meters to the semi-finals. In addition, he finished fifth with the Australian relay in 39.57 s. With the relay he also took part in the IAAF World Relays 2017 , where he finished fourth in the final. This was followed by participation in the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 38.88 s in the preliminary round.

In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters and finished fourth in the Australian relay in 38.28 seconds.

In 2017 and 2018, Williams was the Australian 100-meter champion.
