Trampled by Turtles is a bluegrass / indie folk band founded in Minnesota , USA in 2003 .
history
Trampled by Turtles was originally founded as a side project in 2003 by frontman Dave Simonett. However, during this time, he lost all of his equipment due to a car theft during a show. Equipped with only one acoustic guitar, he began to concentrate more on his band, which was formerly only intended as a side project. Due to the handicap of the lack of equipment, Dave Simonett was now mainly inspired by folk , bluegrass and other genres that manage without electronic amplification. For this he looked for other musicians who, like himself, had no experience in bluegrass. So Ryan Young came as a violin player and original member of a speed metal band and Tim Saxhaug as bassist oneJam band added. Together with Erik Berry on the mandolin and Dave Carroll on the banjo , they began to record their first songs.
In 2004 they released their debut album Songs from a Ghost Town . Just a year later, their second album, Blue Sky and the Devil, followed on the BanjoDad Records label. Their musical breakthrough came in 2010 with their fifth album Palomino , which made it to number 1 on the Billboard Top Bluegrass Albums and number 11 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers. Her music was used in the TV shows The Most Dangerous Job in Alaska (original title: Deadliest Catch) and Squidbillies.
Her album Stars and Satellites appeared in 2013 and made it into the top 50 on eight different Billboard charts, including number 32 on the "Billboard 200" and number 47 on the "Top Rock Albums". The song contained on the album Alone is part of the theme music of the original title: The Way Way Back .
Her album Wild Animals was released in 2014 and reached number 29 on the "Billboard 200".
