Deadliest Catch (Original title: Deadliest Catch ) is an American documentary film - television series , which since 2005 by Original Productions for the Discovery Channel produced. In Germany it is broadcast by the broadcasters DMAX and Discovery Channel. The series shows the events on board the fishing boats in the rough and dangerous Bering Sea during the fishing season for king crabs ( Paralithodes camtschaticus ) and snow crabs ( Chionoecetes bairdi and Chionoecetes opilio ). The home port of the fishing fleet is Dutch Harbor on the Aleutian island of Unalaska in Alaska .

Trivia

In over 70 episodes of the series, Phil Harris († 2010) appeared as the captain of his crab fishing ship Cornelia Marie . An episode was produced in his memory that is intended to honor him in a special way. The content of this episode are excerpts from all seasons in which he was involved.
