Transformer House (Hilderath)
The transformer station is in the district Hilderath in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ), Hilde Rather Straße.
The transformer tower was built in the 1920 / 1930s. It was entered under No. H 102 on January 10, 2005 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .
location
The transformer tower is located at the junction of the road to Sittard from Hilderather Strasse, diagonally across from a new Aussiedlerhof (Hilderather Strasse 201).
architecture
The switch house was built in the form of a transformer tower on an approximately square floor plan made of dark red brick masonry. Access is on the ground floor on the east side facing Hilderather Straße. Further wall openings are on the south side of the building.
In terms of design, the sturdy concrete slab of the flat roof corresponds to an only slightly protruding base zone . The sharp-edged, symmetrical design of the shaft is additionally emphasized by the box- shaped design of the circumferential gutter . In the area of the tower head, four, only slightly protruding brick strips run around the building . The overhead lines from Sittard, Hilderath, Mennrath and Rheindahlen are connected here via insulators . With the restrained use of formal design elements, the brick strips give the lead-in zone of the overhead lines a sparingly indicated, but safe, architecturally accentuated setting.
A brick roll layer is arranged directly below the concrete slab at the upper edge and at the lower edge of the discharge zone without protruding from the wall. Further rolling layers accentuate the upper edge of the plinth and the door / window lintels.
