Transition to Production

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term transition to production describes the transition of one or more components (e.g. machines , software products , processes , guidelines ) into the operation or production of a company.

Transition to Production (TtP) in an IT company

The TtP business process is responsible for the handover of hardware and software components of the supplying units in the company to the operating organization and requires a strict separation of supplying processes (e.g. the introduction of a new software release) and the operation of hardware or software components .

The transition is accompanied and controlled by a so-called change (= change or reorganization of operational components). The change process itself is implemented using tools (e.g. Remedy Action Request System). The TtP process extends from the order acceptance (e.g. a change record in the action request) through the suitability test to the certification of the requested operational change. The implementation or removal of an operational component will continue to be carried out by the provider, the operator or by external service providers .

The TtP process tests the operational suitability of components and approves or certifies them for operation in the sense of a TÜV body . This increases the operational safety during commissioning. A continuous improvement process (CIP) is set in motion through planned reviews (re-certifications) . Another goal of TtP is to increase the transparency and traceability of the test and certification procedures used.
