The Compagnie des Transports publics du Littoral Neuchâtelois , abbreviated TN , officially Compagnie des Transports en commun de Neuchâtel et environs , was the transport company for the Swiss city of Neuchâtel and the surrounding area on Lake Neuchâtel . The original name of the company was Compagnie des Tramways de Neuchâtel . On May 23, 2012, the company merged with TRN SA to form Transports Publics Neuchâtelois SA . The new company appears under the logo transN and has the official initials TRN .

history

The transport company was created in 1901 from a merger of the Régional Neuchâtel – Cortaillod – Boudry ( NCB ) company founded in 1892 with the Neuchâtel – Saint-Blaise ( NSB ) tramway founded in 1893 .

Bus

In addition to the tram and the trolleybus, the participants operated eight bus routes in the city and agglomeration:

5b Cortaillod -Areuse
9 Place Pury – Denis-de-Rougemont
9b Place Pury – Rue Matille
10 Gare CFF-Bôle
11 Place Pury – Piscines
S. Place Pury – Savagnier (Cernier)
B. Saint-Aubin- Boudry
P Perreux-Hôpital-Boudry

The TN carried around 6.1 million passengers annually on their bus routes, consuming 700,000 liters of diesel, which corresponds to emissions of around 1900 tons of carbon dioxide . The regional bus routes in the canton of Neuchâtel , on the other hand, were operated by Transports Régionaux Neuchâtelois (TRN) and Postauto Schweiz AG .

Funiculars

Because the difference in altitude between the city center by the lake and the high-altitude districts is around 200 meters, the participants also maintained the three funicular railways Ecluse – Plan, La Coudre – Chaumont and “Fun'ambule” (Gare – Université). The latter belongs to the city of Neuchâtel and was only managed by the TN.
