Bettina Bernadotte

Bettina Bernadotte , grevinna Bernadotte af Wisborg (* 12. March 1974 in Scherzingen , Switzerland ) is a German-Swedish business economist for tourism industry . She is the managing director of Mainau GmbH , which is responsible for the operation of the flower island Mainau . Bettina Bernadotte has a Luxembourgish nobility title and is the eldest daughter from Count Lennart's second marriage to Sonja Bernadotte , who had four children in his first marriage.

Life

Bettina Bernadotte grew up with her four younger siblings on the castle on the island of Mainau and attended elementary school in Konstanz-Litzelstetten and the Ellenrieder-Gymnasium in Konstanz. Even as a schoolgirl, she worked with her siblings on her father's 45 hectare island, among other things as an ice cream seller or in the garden. After graduating from high school in 1993, she first went to language studies and studied art history in Madrid , which she did not complete. A language stay in Florence followed. On her return, she did an internship at the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm and a half year with a restorer. In 1996 she began studying tourism management at the Ravensburg State University of Cooperative Education with the Europa-Park Family and Leisure Park Mack KG near Rust as a training company. After graduating in 1999 with a degree in business administration (BA), she continued to work in project management at Europa-Park and then at Stremler Consultants , a company for corporate development in Lindau . In 2001 she started her own business as a consultant for companies in the tourism sector with the consulting company cbb-ok, Comtesse Bettina Bernadotte, Organization & Concepts in Lindau.

In January 2002 she joined Mainau GmbH . From April 2002 to December 2006 she was the personal assistant to her mother Sonja. On her 30th birthday on March 12, 2004, she was appointed authorized signatory of Mainau GmbH and in January 2007 took over the management of Mainau GmbH. Her brother Björn Bernadotte was originally intended for this, but did not. In July 2013 both were managing directors and managers authorized to represent the company. In 2013 she took over the patronage of the anniversary symposium of Homeopaths without Borders .

Bettina Bernadotte is President of the Board of Trustees for the Nobel Laureate Meetings in Lindau . Since 2006 she has been a member of the board of trustees of the children's aid organization Plan International Deutschland , based in Hamburg , of which she had previously been a member of the board for ten years. She is also the patron of the Europa Mini-Chefs , a member of the administrative board of the University of Hohenheim and voluntarily accompanies the Gärtnern für Alle eV , Insel Mainau and European KulturForum Mainau e. V.

Countess Bernadotte married the agricultural engineer Philipp Haug (* 1972) on August 2, 2004 in Mariefred near Gripsholm Castle . The church wedding followed on October 29, 2004 in the castle church on the island of Mainau. She lives in Konstanz with her husband and three children. Haug comes from a family of winemakers in Lindau on Lake Constance. He is a freelance consultant for organic fruit growing and a member of the Fördergemeinschaft Ökologischer Obstbau eV (FÖKO).

Bernadotte is a Swedish citizen. In addition to German, Swedish and English, she also speaks French and Spanish. She is a founding member of the Rotary Club Konstanz-Mainau, which was founded on November 24, 2007, and which has mainly dealt with the topic of child minders. On September 18, 2008, she took on the sponsorship of the MS Sonnenkönigin .

Trivia

It is a family custom that a tree is planted on the Mainau for every child. In the case of Bettina Bernadotte, this was a magnolia . On June 3, 2007, she also planted a magnolia for her daughter.
