history

The DHBW Ravensburg was founded in 1978 as the Ravensburg University of Cooperative Education . The basis for this was the in the 1970s by the companies Daimler-Benz , Bosch and Standard Elektrik Lorenz (SEL in Alcatel-Lucent Germany leavened Stuttgart companies) initiated "Stuttgart Model" as a precursor of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative Education . The aim was to offer the increasing number of high school graduates an alternative to traditional studies. In addition, there was a lack of well-trained junior staff, which the aim was to counter with a practical and qualitative combination of studies and professional experience. At the end of 2006, the vocational academies in Baden-Württemberg converted their degrees to the state qualification title Bachelor. The resolution of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of October 15, 2004 put the qualifications of the vocational academies on an equal footing with the qualifications of colleges and universities. On March 1, 2009, the Ravensburg University of Cooperative Education became part of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University. The system of the university, with nine locations and over 34,000 students, was designed on the basis of the US State University System.
