The Trappist Convent Crozet has been an American convent in Crozet, Virginia , Albemarle County , Richmond Diocese , since 1972 .

history

The Trappist Abbey of Wrentham , the first Cistercian abbey in the United States, founded Our Lady of the Angels Monastery 20 kilometers west of Charlottesville , in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains , in 1987 as a third subsidiary (priory since 1997) . Since 1990 cheese production has contributed significantly to the maintenance of the monastery.
